Annual Fee of Hyatt Business Card

The Hyatt Business Card has an annual fee of $199, which you can offset with the $100 in Hyatt credits each year, Hyatt Discoverist status (for you and up to 5 employees), complimentary Hyatt Leverage membership, and travel and purchase protections.

You can also add employees as authorized user cards for no additional cost.

Benefits of Hyatt Business Card

The Hyatt Business Card offers the following benefits and perks:

$100 Annual Hyatt Credit: You can earn a $50 statement credit twice each cardmember year when you spend $50 or more at any Hyatt property, including room rates, parking, spa treatment, dining, pet fees, etc.

Hyatt Discoverist Status: The primary cardholder and up to five designated company employees receive complimentary Hyatt Discoverist status. The benefits of Hyatt Discoverist status include upgraded to preferred rooms, elite check-in, late checkout, premium internet, free bottled water,

Ability to Earn Elite Night Credits: You can earn 5 Tier-Qualifying night credits toward status and Milestone rewards for every $10,000 you spend in a calendar year. For example, if you spent $50,000 in a calendar year, you would receive 25 elite night credits.

Up to 10% Points Back: One quirky benefit of this card is that if you spend $50,000 in a calendar year, you get 10% of your redeemed points back for the rest of the year. The timing of this benefit is important. The faster you get the $50,000 in spending in the calendar year, the more time you have to enjoy the 10% back in points. However, this benefit is capped at 20,000 points back (or 200,000 points redeemed).

Hyatt Leverage Membership: The primary cardholder receives a complimentary membership in the Hyatt Leverage program, which gets you a discount of up to  15% off the standard rates at participating Hyatt hotels worldwide.

No Foreign Transaction Fees: You can make international purchases with your card without paying an extra fee of around 3%.

Extended Warranty coverage adds up to an additional year of coverage for eligible purchases on manufacturer’s warranties up to 3 years.

Purchase Protection covers eligible purchases against accidental damage or theft for up to 120 days for purchases this card.

Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance reimburses you for non-refundable expenses if your trip is interrupted or canceled for a covered reason when you pay for your travel expenses with this card.

Primary Rental Car Insurance steps in as the primary coverage for any damage or theft of a rental vehicle paid for with this card without needing to use your own auto insurance.

Redeem World of Hyatt Points

Redeeming World of Hyatt points offers a variety of options for travelers allows members to book any “standard room” available for sale using points.

Hyatt has three award charts for their standard hotels, all-inclusive hotels, and their ultra-premium Mirval properties. Each award chart is divided into Off-Peak, Standard, and Peak depending on when you want to book your hotel. Standard hotels range from 3,500 off-peak Category 1 hotels to 45,000 points for peak Category 8 hotels, all-inclusive properties range from 12,000 and 58,000 points per night, and Mirval properties range from 40,000 to 137,000 points per night.

What sets World of Hyatt apart is its efficient redemption of points for suites, either through free night redemptions or as upgrades on paid stays. The suite upgrade award chart, applicable to club rooms, standard suites, and premium suites, does, however, come with stricter capacity controls compared to standard rooms.

Additionally, the Points + Cash option presents a flexible solution for those seeking to mix points and cash for bookings, requiring half the standard points and offering a discount on the cash component, yet this too is subject to capacity controls.

Is the Hyatt Business Card Worth It?

The Hyatt Business Card is worth it if you frequently stay at Hyatt hotels and can spend a large amount each year to earn elite night credits.

While it does have a $199 annual fee, it effectively is $99 when you factor in up to $100 in statement credits each year.

Chase could improve the Hyatt Business Card by adding a free hotel night or increasing the 10% rebate cap of 20,000 points back.

If you aren’t loyal to Hyatt, you should consider another business travel rewards credit card.
