Virgin Atlantic points, known as Virgin Points, do not expire. This is a significant benefit compared to many other loyalty programs.

Previously, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles had an expiration policy where miles would expire after three years of inactivity, which was already comparatively generous. However, with the introduction of Virgin Points, this expiration policy has been removed, offering even greater flexibility and long-term value for members

How to Earn Virgin Atlantic Points

There are several great options to earn Virgin Points:

Flying With Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic awards points based on a combination of flight mileage and fare class:

  • Economy Light (T) = 25% of flight mileage.
  • Economy Classic (O, N, X, Q, E) = 50% of flight mileage.
  • Economy Classic (L, U, M) and Premium (H, K) = 100% of flight mileage.
  • Economy Classic (Y, B, R) and Economy Delight (V) = 150% of flight mileage.
  • Premium (W, S) and Upper Class (I, Z) = 200% of flight mileage.
  • Upper Class (J, C, D) = 400% of flight mileage.

Additionally, Flying Club elite members earn an additional bonus, with Silver Status receiving a 30% bonus and Gold status receiving a 60% bonus.

Virgin Atlantic also partners with Air New Zealand, ANA, Hawaiian Airlines, IndiGo, LATAM, SAS, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, and Virgin Australia.

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club partners will many hotel programs you can earn Virgin Points on your next hotel stay:

Virgin Hotels: Earn 5 Virgin Points per $1 spent or 7 Virgin Points per £1 spent for stays at participating hotels. Plus, Flying Club Gold and Silver members receive a complimentary upgrade, subject to availability, while Flying Club Gold members also receive a complimentary breakfast.

Virgin Limited Edition: Earn up to 55,000 points when you book a luxury hotel experience with Virgin Limited Edition.

Best Western: Earn 500 points per stay worldwide. Plus, Silver and Gold members get a status match to Best Western elite status.

Marriott Hotels and Resorts: Earn 2 points per dollar spent at Marriott’s premium brands (e.g., Westin, Autograph, Renaissance), and 1 point per dollar spent on Marriott’s budget and standard brands (e.g., Courtyard, Four Points, Aloft, Residence Inn).

Hyatt Hotels: Earn 750 points per stay.

IHG Hotels & Resorts: Earn 500 points per stay at InterContential and Kimpton hotels, 400 points per stay at Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo, and 300 points per stay at all other IHG Hotels. 

Yotel: Receive 500 points for a completed stay at YOTEL New York when you stay at least 3 night or 100 points for for a single stay of any duration, day or night at YOTEL Gatwick, Amsterdam Schipol and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports.

Rocketmiles: Earn 500 – 10,000 Virgin Points per night when you book a hotel with RocketMiles. (You will forgo any elite perks or the ability to earn hotel points.)

Kaligo: Earn up to 10,000 Virgin points per night when you book a hotel via Kaligo. (You will forgo any elite perks or the ability to earn hotel points.)

WorldHotels Collection: Earn 500 points per qualifying stay at WorldHotels.

Rental Cars

Avis and Alamo: You can earn 1,000 points on a 7+ day rental and 500 points on a 1-6 day rental when you book on a special Flying Club or retail rate. If you book at a corporate rate, you only earn 250 points for a 1 to 6-day rental and 500 points for a 7+ day rental.

Hertz: You can earn 1,000 points on leisure rentals and 500 points on corporate rentals.

National: Earn 1,000 points for rentals in the US and Canada, and for Europe, 600 points for rentals between 1 and 6 days and 1,200 points for rentals of 7+ days.

Sixt: Earn 500 points for every Sixt Car rental.

Virgin Trains Ticketing: Earn 3 points per £1 when you book a train via the Virgin Trains Ticketing app.

Purple Parking and Holiday Extras: Earn 250 to 500 points when you book airport Park & Ride services.

e-Rewards: Take surveys and convert e-Rewards currency or points to Virgin Points.

Heathrow Rewards: Earn 1 point for every £1 you spend at t hundreds of stores and outlets at Heathrow, on Heathrow Parking, Heathrow Express pre-booked train tickets, and 1 point for every £10 exchanged in Bureaux de change.

Business Traveller: Earn points when you buy a magazine subscription to Business Traveller. You can earn 400 points for a 1 Year subscription, 1,200 points for a 2 year subscription, and 2,300 points for a 3-year subscription.
