There are two options for transferring points to American Airlines AAdvantage miles.
You can transfer Marriott Bonvoy points at a ratio of 3 Marriott points to 1 AAdvantage mile. This transfer takes about 2 days.
You can also transfer from Bilt Rewards to American AAdvantage miles at a rate of 1 to 1, which transfers almost instantly. To earn Bilt Rewards points, you can open the Bilt Mastercard® (review).
You cannot transfer points to American Airlines AAdvantage from:
- American Express Membership Rewards;
- Chase Ultimate Rewards;
- Citi ThankYou;
- Capital One Miles; and
- Brex Rewards.
How to Transfer Points from Marriott
To transfer points from Marriott Bonvoy, follow these steps:
- Visit this Marriott Bonvoy page.
- Scroll down and click “Transfer Points.”
- Sign in to your Marriot Bonvoy account.
- Scroll down again and click “Transfer Points.”
- Choose your Frequent Flyer program and enter your frequent flyer number.
- Enter the number of points you want to transfer and click “Continue,” and then click “Convert.”
I recommend transferring in increments of 60,000 Marriott points because there is a 5,000 airline mile bonus when you transfer 60,000 Marriott points.
This 5,000 miles bonus does not apply to American Airlines AAdvantage, Avianca LifeMiles, Delta SkyMiles and Korean Air SKYPASS.

How to Transfer Points from Bilt Rewards
To transfer points from Bilt Rewards:
- Get your phone and click on the Bilt Rewards mobile app.
- On the main screen at the top, click “Travel.”
- Scroll down to “Bilt Loyalty Partners.”
- Link your airline or hotel points programs to Bilt Rewards.
- Choose the program you want to transfer to and click “Transfer Points.”
- Enter the number of Bilt points you want to transfer and click next.
- Click “I agree to terms and conditions” and click “Confirm Transfer.”
