If you’re a frequent traveler, you’re likely familiar with Marriott Bonvoy, one of the largest hotel loyalty programs in the world.
You may not know that Marriott Bonvoy also offers a wide range of airline transfer partners, making it easy to earn and redeem points for flights around the globe. With nearly 40 airline partners available, Marriott Bonvoy offers more transfer options than any other hotel loyalty program.
Some of Marriott Bonvoy’s most popular airline transfer partners include United Airlines, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and ANA.
This guide will cover everything you need to know about Marriott Bonvoy’s airline transfer partners, including how long transfers take, how to transfer points, and the best transfer partners.
Marriott’s Airline Transfer Partners
Below is a list of all Marriott Bonvoy’s transfer partners. Most partners transfer at a ratio of 3 Marriott Bonvoy points to 1 airline mile.
One important thing to remember is that Marriott also offers a transfer bonus of 5,000 miles when you transfer in increments of 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points.
The bonus is even better for United MileagePlus, which gets you 10,000 bonus miles.
If you maximize the transfer bonus, 60,000 Marriott points convert to 25,000 airline miles, or for United, 30,000 airline miles.
The exceptions to the transfer bonus are American AAdvantage, Avianca LifeMiles, Delta SkyMiles, and Korean SKYPASS.

How to Transfer Marriott Points to Airlines
To transfer points from Marriott Bonvoy, follow these steps: I recommend transferring in increments of 60,000 Marriott points because there is a 5,000 airline mile bonus when you transfer 60,000 Marriott points. This 5,000 miles bonus does not apply to American Airlines AAdvantage, Avianca LifeMiles, Delta SkyMiles and Korean Air SKYPASS.
Which Airlines Should You Transfer To?
You need to carefully choose which airline partner you want to transfer to because of the 3 to 1 ratio, and some airline mileage programs have lots of options to earn or transfer points.
If I were transferring Marriott points to airlines, I would target the following airline mileage programs:
- Alaska Airlines and Japan Airlines because their miles are quite valuable and no other points transfer to Alaska or Japan Airlines.
- ANA because there are many great options to redeem their miles and the only other transfer partner is American Express Membership Rewards.
- United because it has the best transfer ratio of 2 to 1 when you take advantage of the 60,000 points transfer bonus.
How to Easily Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points

- Marriott Bonvoy® Platinum Elite Status

The Verdict
Marriott Bonvoy offers a valuable opportunity for members to transfer points to a wide range of airline partners, providing flexibility and potential for significant value.
With a transfer ratio 3:1 for most partners, members can strategically leverage their Marriott Bonvoy points to access various airline rewards and benefits.
However, members must carefully consider the transfer process, maximize the transfer bonus, and potential sweet spots to maximize the value of their points when transferring to airline miles.
