Hilton Honors points are a versatile currency within the Hilton Honors rewards program, allowing members to book hotel stays, experiences, and more
Understanding the worth of these points can help members make informed decisions about when to use points versus paying cash, which is why we looked at the points value for over 40 hotels.
What are Hilton Honors Points Worth?
Hilton Honors points are valued at 0.51 cents per point based on our data study of prices over 40 hotels.
Here is a spreadsheet of the data we used to calculate this point value, which we update frequently to ensure you have the most up-to-date information. We also believe in data transparency, which is why we show you our data, unlike several larger websites.
Here are the criteria we used to calculate our Hilton points value:
- Cash prices included taxes, fees, and resort fees. You don’t have to pay these extra costs when you use your points.
- Hotel searches were conducted 2 to 3 months in advance since the cash price of the hotel is typically higher a few weeks before check-in, and the points price is low if you book 6+ months in advance.
- We chose rates that had similar cancellation policies as award bookings. This generally excluded non-refundable rates, which are cheaper, but you can typically cancel an award a few days before the stay so it would be an unfair comparison.
- We chose hotels that were generally downtown and had a guest rating of at least 4 stars out of 5. If there were downtown hotels with similar points prices, then we chose the higher-rated hotel.

Redeeming Hilton Honors Points
Hilton Honors points offer flexibility and value for travelers, with over 7,500 properties worldwide available for redemption. While the program uses dynamic pricing instead of a fixed award chart, members can still find excellent deals, especially during peak travel periods. The best way to use Hilton points is typically for hotel stays, where we found during our data study that you should get, on average, about 0.51 cents per point in value. To maximize your redemptions, search for properties within your point budget during your desired travel dates. Elite members benefit from a fifth night free on award stays, stretching points even further. For those short on points, the Points & Money option allows for customizable combinations of cash and points. Hilton also offers premium room awards, letting you book suites or rooms with better amenities using points. This can be particularly useful for families or those desiring extra space. Beyond hotel stays, Hilton points can be redeemed for unique experiences through Hilton Honors Experiences, including exclusive events and activities. While other redemption options exist, such as transferring to airlines, using points for Amazon purchases, or booking car rentals, these typically offer lower value. Focus on hotel stays and experiences to get the most from your Hilton Honors points. With strategic planning, you can turn your points into memorable stays at properties ranging from budget-friendly options to luxury resorts worldwide.
When Do Hilton Honors Points Expire?
Hilton Honors points normally expire 24 months from inactivity, but they can be extended whenever you have any sort of qualifying activities on your account such as earning points, redeeming points, or even purchasing points.
