After staying at hundreds of Hilton properties over the years, I’ve learned that elite status can transform your hotel experience.
With Hilton Gold status, you’ll unlock valuable benefits that make every stay more comfortable, including free breakfast internationally and room upgrades when available.
What impresses me most about Hilton Gold is how easily you can earn it compared to similar programs. Whether you’re a road warrior or occasional traveler, I’ll show you how to make the most of these perks.
How to Earn Hilton Honors Elite Status
You can earn Hilton Honors elite status by reaching these requirements: Additionally, any nights you earn more than a status level rollover to the following year. For example, if you earned fifty nights, ten nights would rollover (50 – 40 nights required for Gold).

The Verdict
I consider Hilton Gold status one of the most valuable mid-tier hotel benefits available. You’ll enjoy complimentary breakfast at international properties or a daily food credit at US hotels – perks I personally use on every stay.
Room upgrades happen fairly regularly, and earning the status is refreshingly simple with the right credit card such as the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card or American Express Platinum Card®
If you find yourself staying at Hilton properties often, I’d suggest looking into Diamond status for an even better experience, which you can easily obtain with the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card.
