When Do Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Points Expire?

Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points now expire if you have no qualifying activity on your account in 12 months, instead of the previous 18-month expiration window. This policy change went into effect on October 8, 2023, shortening the validity period of Hertz points to 12 months without notice to members.

According to Hertz’s website, “Points do not expire if you have a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® rental activity in the prior 12 months. Activity means a Gold Plus Rewards® point was either earned or redeemed.”

How to Reset your Hertz Points Expiration

To reset your Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points expiration date and keep your points from expiring, you need to have qualifying account activity at least once every 12 months. Qualifying activity is defined as either earning or redeeming Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points.

The easiest way to reset your points expiration is to earn points on a completed Hertz rental. Once you complete your rental and the points post to your account, the expiration date will be extended 12 months from that date.

Alternatively, you could redeem your Hertz points for a free rental, which will also reset the expiration of your remaining points.
