The Ultimate Guide to United Club Lounges [Locations, Access, and Amenities]

United Club

United has two types of airport lounges, United Club and United Polaris. The United Polaris lounges are very luxurious lounges located in United’s main hub airports for passengers traveling internationally in business or first class on United or a Star Alliance airline.

The United Club lounges are not as fancy as the Polaris lounges, but they are still a good place to relax and grab a drink or snack before a flight.

United Clubs are very similar to American Airlines’ Admirals Club and Delta’s Sky Clubs.  You can expect enough food for a light meal such as salad, soup, cheese, hummus, veggies, and cookies in the afternoon, and oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, scones, bagels, hard boiled eggs in the morning.

The bar will have a selection of free alcoholic drinks and some premium drinks you can purchase.

The standard benefits at all United Club lounges are:

  • Complimentary beverages and light snacks
  • Complimentary bar services
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Power outlets throughout the lounge
  • Free use of color/black and white printers
  • Agent Assistance with reservations, seat assignments, and electronic ticketing.
  • Current newspapers

United Club Lounge Access

The United Club Credit Card

The Chase United Club credit card is the best way to access the United Club if you regularly travel on United or a partner airline. The annual fee is $450, but it is either the same cost or cheaper depending on your United elite status than buying a yearly United Club membership outright. Plus with the United Club credit card, you get Hertz Presidents Circle elite status, two free checked bags, 1.5 United miles everywhere, no close-in award booking fees, trip delay insurance, primary rental car insurance, and many other benefits.

You can bring in two adult guests OR 1 adult and all dependent children under 21 years of age.

Starting November 2019, you will need to present a same-day boarding pass on United, Star Alliance, or a partner airline for access.

One Time Passes

You can get two free one-time passes each year with the Chase United Explorer or the Chase United Explorer Business. If you don’t have those free passes, the cost is $59 per person.

Starting November 2019, you will need to present a same-day boarding pass on United, Star Alliance, or a partner airline for access.

Buy a Yearly Membership

You can buy yearly access to the United Club, with discounts based on your elite status. The initiation fee is either $50 or 7,000 miles for all new United Club memberships or for memberships that are 30 days after expiration.

You can bring in two adult guests OR 1 adult and all dependent children under 21 years of age.

Starting November 2019, you will need to present a same-day boarding pass on United, Star Alliance, or a partner airline for access.
