Singapore Airlines Information and KrisFlyer Overview

Good Things About Singapore Airlines

Transfer Partners– You can transfer points from the four major transferable points programs (American Express, Citi, Chase, and Marriott)

Amazing Airline– Singapore is one of the top airlines in the world. You will have a great experience whether it is in economy or their premium classes. Singapore is launching a brand new first class that will is pretty much a bedroom on a plane.

Alaska Award Chart– Singapore has a really good award chart on Alaska Airlines with weird geographic groupings that can offer great values.

Stopovers– On Star Alliance awards, you get one free stopover for a round-trip award. You can also add up to three more for $100 each, which can be a great deal if you plan it correctly.

Awards Within Same Region– Singapore’s Star Alliance chart offers great value for flights within the same region, usually about 25,000 points round-trip in economy. Some of the regions are quite large and contain expensive flights that can be booked cheaply with Singapore points (Perth to Papette is in the same region and is 5,842 miles apart. It is closer to fly Los Angeles to London)

Singapore Airport- Singapore Changi Airport is consistently rated the #1 airport in the world. There are two free movie theaters, butterfly garden, transit hotels in each terminal, lots of shopping and restaurants.

Bad Things About Singapore Airlines

Recent Devaluations– Singapore devalued their program in early 2017 and then their Star Alliance partners in late 2017. This eliminated most of the sweet spots using their points.

Fuel Surcharges– Singapore passes on surcharges for all of their Star Alliance partners, which can cost you hundreds of dollars to use your points.

Points Expiration: Singapore points expire within 36 months of earning them with no way to extend.
