Qatar Airways is the top airline in the world and now has the best business class in the world with QSuites.
These suites have the ability to close the door to give you privacy. You can also combine two suites to create a double bed, or combine four into a four-person family or work area.
This page will detail (1) how to tell if your plane has QSuites, (2) how to book QSuites, (3) what routes have QSuites, and (4) which seats to book.
How to Tell if Your Plane is Equipped With QSuites
Qatar has equipped the following planes with QSuites:
- Airbus A350-1000: 9 of 9 (Seat Map)
- Airbus A350-900: 12 of 36 (Seat Map)
- Boeing 777-200LR: 7 of 9 (Seat Map)
- Boeing 777-300ER: 25 of 48 (Seat Map)
A list of the QSuites routes are below. You can also double-check whether your flight has QSuites by searching your flight on Qatar Airways’ website. If you see an icon with a grey “Q”, then your flight has QSuites. You should search segment by segment (e.g., PHL to DOH; DOH to BKK) so that you can whether QSuites is on each flight since the icon will display if one of your flight in QSuites.
Alternatively, you could search your entire route and when you click the circle for business, the box will expand showing what kind of seats are on each flight.
As you can see below the Philadelphia route does not have QSuites, but the one stop option (DOH-BOS-PHL) has QSuites for one segment.
You can also verify that you specific flight has QSuites for free be creating a free Expert Flyer account. After signing in, select “Create Seat Alert” and fill out the correct information including flight number, airline (QR), origin, and destination.

A plane with QSuites will have a seat map that looks like this. The seat map details the space between the seats. However, the Expert Flyer seat map does not detail which seats face forward and which seats face backwards, so check the Seat Guru Seat Maps above.

Finding QSuite Award Space
You can see QSuite award space using one of the following websites: British Airways, Qantas, or American Airlines.
I prefer using British Airways’ website. It offers the most accurate and up to date look at award space on Qatar Airways, plus you can see award space before about 3 weeks before American Airlines’ website. However, you will need to search by segment (e.g. JFK to DOH; DOH to CPT) and a specific day.
To search award space on British Airways you will need to create a free account if you don’t have one. Then select Book — Book a Flight with Avios.
American Airlines is another option to check award space. The big advantage of searching on American’s website is that you can see the entire calendar. However, American’s system is not as accurate as British Airways’, especially when booking well in advance. You will need to click through several screens to where you enter passenger information to ensure that the award space is actually real.
If you want to search QSuite, I suggest you first search a flight to or from Doha and select “Non-stop only.” This eliminates connecting flights on British Airways (that carry high fuel surcharges and taxes). Once you find a flight that has real award space, try entering your full route using the search.
Booking QSuites with Points
The demand for QSuites is very high. Many people want to use their points to book QSuites to ensure that they have an amazing trip while they are in the air. Qatar Airways also regularly prices QSuites at very reasonable cash prices (around $2,500 roundtrip to Africa, India, or Asia), which also increases the demand for QSuites.
You can book QSuites using the points from any OneWorld partner. These partners include American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific (Asia Miles), Japan Airlines, and Qantas.
The most popular way to book QSuites is with American Airlines points. Qatar Airways typically has high fuel surcharges, which American Airlines does not charge for. So you can book a one-way QSuite flight from the USA to Africa for under twenty dollars in taxes and fees.
You can use American Airlines points to book awards from the USA/Canada to Africa, the Middle East, or the “Indian Subcontinent” (Bangladesh, India, Kazakhstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan). A trip to Asia, Europe, Australia, or New Zealand would price out as separate awards, which would almost double the price.
The cost in American Airlines points would be:
- 75,000 points one way from the USA to Africa.
- 70,000 points one way from the USA to the Middle East.
- 70,000 points one-way from the USA to the Indian Subcontinent.
No stopovers are allowed, so your time in Doha will have to be under 24 hours.
You can book awards on Qatar Airways on AA.com up to 331 days before departure (all flights must be 331 days away, so calculate 331 days from your connecting flight), but watch out for “phantom award space.”
I recently booked five people (including myself) on QSuites down to Capetown, South Africa. Capetown is a very popular destination, so I knew I had to book the award as the calendar opened 331 days out (or 330 days when you factor in the connecting flight the next day that leaves 331 days out) . I used British Airways’ award system to figure out in advance which routes would be bookable soon on AA.com (our preferred departure airport of LAX had no award spaces for weeks).
The award calendar opened up at midnight central US time, but all of my bookings failed at the payment screen for some reason. Luckily, the following morning I was able to book 4 people out of O’Hare and one person out of New York-JFK to Capetown with a long layover in Doha (there was an option with short layover, which was taken by someone when I was having trouble with AA.com).
On the return, there was only two QSuites seats the entire week into all eight possible North American cities. So I grabbed those two seats and the other seats were on Etihad using American points (also bookable online).
Qatar Airways release most of their seats when the calendar opens, but they also release seats at random times 3-5 months before departure in order to fill the premium cabins.
If you are worried about someone stealing your award space, you could place an “Award Hold” (on the final payment screen on AA.com) for the USA to Doha route 331 days in advance and then call in and add your next stop when that flight becomes bookable the next day.
QSuites Routes in North and South America
- QR 755- Departs Doha at 08:10 and arrives in Atlanta at 16:20 on a Boeing 777-200LR.
- QR 756- Departs Atlanta at 19:45 and arrives in Doha the next day at 16:15 on a Boeing 777-200LR.

- Qatar flies Doha t0 Sao Paulo and then continues to Buenos Aires.

- Travel time is 13 hours and 45 minutes from Adelaide, and 13 hours and 15 minutes from Doha.
Auckland (AKL)
- QR920- Departing Doha at 02:10 and arriving the next day in Auckland at 04:50 on a Boeing 777-200LR.
- QR931- Departing Auckland at 16:15 and arriving in Doha the next day at 00:05 on a Boeing 777-200LR.
- Travel time is 17 hours and 40 minutes from Auckland, and 16 hours and 45 minutes from Doha.
Sydney/Canberra (SYD/CBR)
- Qatar Airways flies Doha to Sydney and then the plane continues onto Canberra after a 1.5 hour layover on a Boeing 777-300ER, which changes to Airbus A350-1000 in late October 2019.
- Qatar Airways also flies the Doha to Sydney route using an Airbus A380 (QR 908 and 909), but that plane does not have QSuites.
- You can buy tickets departing either Sydney or Canberra to Doha (and beyond), but you cannot buy a ticket traveling only on the one-hour flight between the Sydney and Canberra.
- QR906- Departs Doha at 09:10 and arrives the next day in Sydney at 06:30; QR 906 then departs Sydney at 07:55 and arrives in Canberra at 08:55.
- QR 907- Departs Canberra at 13:55 and arrives in Sydney at 14:55; QR 907 then departs Sydney at 16:25 and arrives at 23:30 in Doha.
- The flight time is 15 hours from Sydney to Doha, and 14 hours and 20 minutes from Doha to Sydney.
Middle East QSuites Routes
Qatar offers QSuites on three routes in the Middle East. There are no set flight numbers since Qatar utilizes their long-haul aircraft on these short-haul routes to fill in as needed. However, you can check which flights may have QSuites by first using Google Flights to see which flights are operated by a Boeing 777 or Airbus A350, and then checking the seat map on Expert Flyer (detailed above).
Qatar operates only Economy and “First” Class on routes in the Middle East. This will cost you more points, but it also makes you eligible to visit Qatar’s amazing Al Safwa First Class Lounge.
- Flight time is about 1 hour and 25 minutes each way.
- Flight time is about 1 hour and 45 minutes each way.
- Flight time is about 3 hours each way.
What QSuites Seats to Book
QSuites have seats facing both forward and the rear. The odd numbered rows are rear-facing, and the even number rows are forward-facing.
The rear-facing window seats are closer to the window and offer more privacy. The rear-facing middle seats are also great for couples who want to sleep close together in a “double bed.”
