Best Ways to Earn JetBlue TrueBlue Points

Flying on JetBlue and Partners

You earn points based on the cash price of your ticket and your elite status. You earn 6x for a Blue fare, 7x for a Blue plus, 8x for Blue Flex, and 6x for Mint (lie-flat first class). Additionally, Mosiac elite status members earn an extra 3 points per dollar on flights.

Flying other Airlines: Singapore, Emirates, Icelandair, Hawaiian, Silver Airways, or South African. (links to JetBlue to show earning rates)

Transfer Partners

JetBlue is a 1 to 1 transfer partner of Citi ThankYou and Chase Ultimate Rewards. Chase is a 6 to 1 transfer partner of Marriott and a 250 to 200 transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards.

  • Our valuation of Jetblue is 1.4 cpp. With a 10% bonus from this card on redemptions, the valuation is 1.54 cpp. Therefore, 6x= 9.2% return, 2x= 3.1% return, 1x= 1.5% return.

Benefits: Free first checked bag (and up to 3 companions on same reservation), spend $50,000 and receive Mosaic status, 10% points back when you redeem them, 5,000 bonus points at card anniversary (worth approx. $77), no foreign transaction fees, and 50% off cocktails and food on JetBlue.

Verdict: I have and plan to hold on to my JetBlue Plus card for the long term for the checked bag benefit, 50% off cocktails, 10% back on awards, and the 5,000 points bonus. However, despite earning 6x point on JetBlue flights, I would not put JetBlue flights on that card if you have a card with trip delay insurance. JetBlue is the most delayed U.S. airline and the one time I put my JetBlue flight on my JetBlue card instead of US Bank Altitude Reserve, I lost out on $450 in benefits. My flight was from Boston to JFK to Albuquerque and the Boston to JFK segment was delayed long enough for me to miss the once a day JFK to Albuquerque flight. JetBlue couldn’t rebook me on another flight for three days and wouldn’t pay for a hotel, so I had to pay for a United flight and hotel out of pocket.
