There are several ways to earn HawaiianMiles including flying on Hawaiian and their partners, transferring points, credit cards, online shopping, eating at restaurants, etc.
Earn HawaiianMiles Flying on Hawaiian Airlines
You earn one HawaiianMile for every mile flown in economy class and 1.5 HawaiianMiles for every mile flown in first class.
Hawaiian Airlines provides a very helpful chart for calculating these distances.
For a typical round-trip economy class flight, you would earn the following amounts:
- Los Angeles to Honolulu = 5,112 HawaiianMiles.
- Boston to Honolulu = 10,190 HawaiianMiles.
- Los Angeles to Sydney via Honolulu = 15,232 HawaiianMiles.
- Honolulu to Tokyo (HND) = 7,700 HawaiianMiles
Additionally, Pualani Platinum elite members earn an additional 100% bonus miles and Pualani Gold elite members earn 50% bonus miles.
Earn HawaiianMiles Flying on Partner Airlines
You can also earn HawaiianMiles flying on six partner airlines. You are awarded miles based on actual miles flown. This allows you to rack up a lot of miles with long-haul flights.
You also earn a bonus for flying in premium economy, business, or first class.
Transfer Partners
There are two main transfer options to HawaiianMiles from American Express Membership Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy.
American Express– You can transfer Membership Rewards instantly at a rate of 1 point to 1 mile. I prefer transferring to other Membership Rewards partners such as ANA, LifeMiles, and Iberia instead of Hawaiian Miles to maximize the value of those points.
Marriott Bonvoy– Marriott points transfer within 24 hours at a rate of 3 Marriott points to 1 Hawaiian Mile.
Plus, if you get a bonus for transferring in increments of 60,000 Marriott points, which equals 25,000 HawaiianMiles.
You can also book a Marriott Travel Package, which gets you 7 nights at a Marriott hotel and either 50,000 or 100,000 HawaiianMiles.

Other Transfer Rates
- IHG Rewards- 5 Hotel points to 1 HawaiianMile.
- Wyndham Rewards- 5 Hotel points to 1 HawaiianMile.
