Happy Wednesday. Here’s the latest miles, points, travel, and deals news:
JetBlue Adds Barcelona, Milan Routes
JetBlue will launch two new seasonal routes from Boston next summer, with Barcelona service starting April 16, 2026, and Milan flights beginning May 11, 2026.
You can book tickets starting November 20, and both destinations are completely new cities for JetBlue’s transatlantic network.
These additions bring JetBlue’s total European destinations from Boston to nine: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Madrid, Milan, and Paris.
JetBlue will operate both routes on Airbus A321neo and A321LR aircraft featuring their Mint premium cabin.
Iberia Launches Toronto-Madrid Route
Iberia will launch five-weekly service between Toronto (YYZ) and Madrid (MAD) starting summer 2026, operating Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays on the new Airbus A321XLR with 14 lie-flat business class seats and 168 economy seats.
Award availability is already loaded at 25,000 to 31,500 Avios one-way in economy plus around $112 in taxes, though you’ll want to wait for true saver inventory to drop since comparable routes on Iberia’s A321XLR price as low as 16,000 Avios off-peak and 19,500 Avios during peak season.
Flying Blue Adds Better Pricing for Elite Members
Air France-KLM Flying Blue has officially rolled out better award pricing for Platinum and Ultimate members after testing it over the summer, giving these elite tiers access to significantly cheaper redemptions compared to non-elite, Silver, and Gold members.
This change appears to prioritize frequent Air France-KLM flyers over casual credit card bonus users, with elite members getting access to more saver-level award space while pricing remains the same across all tiers when saver awards aren’t available.
Etihad Orders 15 A330neos
Etihad Airways announced at the Dubai Airshow that it’s ordering 15 Airbus A330-900neos (six directly from Airbus and nine from leasing company Avolon), with the first aircraft expected in 2027, plus seven additional A350-1000s bringing that total to 27 frames and three A350Fs for cargo operations.
The A330-900neo will primarily fly regional and medium-haul routes across the Gulf, Europe, Africa, and Asia, with the aircraft offering a 7,350 nautical mile range and seating for 287 passengers in a standard three-cabin layout.
Emirates Refreshes A380 Business Class
Starting August 2026, Emirates will install new business class seats on 60 A380s—the same S Lounge seating by Safran that’s already on A350s and retrofitted 777s, with 4K screens, USB-C and wireless charging.
The upgrade is marginal since you’re getting updated staggered seats replacing the current staggered seats, and there are no doors, but Emirates is focusing on fleet-wide product consistency over cutting-edge innovation.
Choice Hotels Enters Africa
Choice Hotels makes its African debut in early 2026 with three Kenya properties: a Clarion and Quality Inn in Nairobi’s business district, plus an Ascend Collection hotel in the Masai Mara National Reserve that will join the Ritz-Carlton safari camp and upcoming JW Marriott property in the sought-after safari destination.
The move finally gives Choice Privileges members redemption options on a continent where the program has been completely absent, with an additional 15+ hotels planned across sub-Saharan and southern Africa by the end of the decade.
Hyatt’s Secrets Mirabel Opens in Cancun
Hyatt has opened Secrets Mirabel Cancun Resort & Spa in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, expanding the Secrets brand portfolio following recent openings in St. Lucia, Aruba, and Miches, Dominican Republic.
The adult-only, all-inclusive property sits eight miles from the airport with 487 rooms and suites, eight restaurants, six bars, six pools, and a Preferred Club level featuring swim-out suites, a rooftop Sky Bar, and exclusive amenities.
flydubai Orders 75 More MAXs
flydubai inked a memorandum of understanding with Boeing for 75 more 737 MAX aircraft valued at $13 billion, plus options for an additional 75 jets.
The Dubai-based carrier also signed an MoU this week for 150 Airbus A321neos and plans to relocate its operations to Dubai World Central Airport as it continues expanding beyond its current fleet of 96 aircraft..
