Chase Ultimate Rewards points do not expire as long as your credit card account is open.
However, if you close your account before redeeming or transferring your rewards, those points will expire.
For example, if you earn a welcome bonus from the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, and then close the card before using your points, they’ll be gone forever.
But if you have another Chase Ultimate Rewards card, you can combine your points before you close your card. Here are the cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points:
Other Ways to Lose Your Points
There are several other ways you can lose your Chase Ultimate Rewards points, if you engage in any of the following:
- Engaging in fraudulent activity related to the account or program;
- Repeatedly opening or otherwise maintaining
credit card accounts for the purpose of
generating rewards; - Failure to make your minimum payment within 60 days of the due date;
- Filing for bankruptcy;
- Manufacturing spend for the purpose of
generating rewards; - Buying or selling points;
- Moving or transferring points to an ineligible
third party or account; or - Selling, or participating in the sale or exchange
of, gift cards, travel or other items of value
obtained through use of points
