If you’re looking for a luxurious airport lounge experience, look no further than Chase’s Sapphire Lounges. These lounges are Chase’s answer to competitors like American Express Centurion Lounges and Capital One Lounges.
There are currently six Chase Sapphire Lounges, with five additional lounges in progress. This guide will tell you everything you need to know about Sapphire Lounges, including details on all the current and upcoming locations and how to access the lounges.
How to Access Sapphire Lounges
Chase Sapphire Reserve®, J.P. Morgan Reserve, and Ritz-Carlton Credit Card (no longer available to new applicants) cardholders can access these lounges. Primary cardholders and authorized users have unlimited access to the Chase Sapphire Lounges using their complimentary Priority Pass membership.
Chase Sapphire Reserve and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardholders can bring up to two guests per visit for free; additional guests cost $27 per person. If you have a Ritz-Carlton Credit Card, you can bring unlimited guests for no additional charge. Childen under 2 years old do not count as an additional guest.
Other Chase cards, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card do not offer access to the Chase Sapphire Lounge since neither offers a Priority Pass membership.
Priority Pass Access with Non-Chase Cards:
If your Priority Pass membership comes from a non-Chase card, you can still access U.S. Sapphire Lounges – but only once per year for free. After that, it’s a steep $75 per visit. Guests cost $75 per person for every visit.
Exceptions: The Austin Chase Sapphire Terrance is only open to Chase Sapphire Reserve and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardholders (not Priority Pass or Ritz Carlton cardholders). The Hong Kong Sapphire Lounge can be visited an unlimited amount of times with a Priority Pass.
Other Ways to Access Sapphire Lounges
Day Passes: No Priority Pass? No problem. For $100, you can purchase a day pass to any Sapphire Lounge, pending availability. It’s pricey but could be worth it for a long layover.
Etihad Business and First Class: If you’re flying up front on Etihad through New York-JFK or Washington-Dulles, you can access those lounges even without a Priority Pass. Just show your boarding pass.
Access Restrictions
Before you get too excited, there are a few key limitations to keep in mind:
3-Hour Rule: Lounge access is only allowed within 3 hours of a scheduled departure unless you have a lengthy layover.
No Arrivals Access: Upon landing, you can’t pop into a Sapphire Lounge unless you connect to an onward flight that day.
Capacity Controls: Chase may limit access to eligible Chase cardholders only during peak times. Having a Priority Pass through a competitor’s card won’t guarantee entry. For example, non-Chase cardmembers can’t get access to the New York JFK Sapphire Lounge between 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM.
