Flight Deal Text Notifications

If you want text notifications in addition to our emails, you will need to create an account on IFTTT.com. IFTTT stands for If This Then That. I am a huge fan of IFTTT and it allows me to automate a lot of tasks. We do send out deals at all hours of the day especially early in the morning. So if you keep ringer on, text notifications might not be a good idea. 

After you created your account, click “My Applets” and then click “New Appelet” on the far right side.

You will then see a screen that says “if this then that.” Click the blue plus sign. 

You will then see a ton of Applets that you can choose. For our purposes, you can search Gmail if you have Gmail or email if you have any other email provider. You will be then prompted to connect your Gmail or Email to IFTTT. 

You then need to choose your trigger. If you want all of our emails sent to your phone, choose “new email in inbox from” then input deals@dealspoints.com. If you want only specific emails such as Mistake Fares, you could select “new mail in inbox from search” and then input “Mistake” in the search box. Or if you live in a smaller city but subscribe to several large cities, you could enter your small city in the search box.

  • Important Note– We do send flight deals at all times of the day including very early in the morning, so SMS notifications might not be a good idea if you keep your notification ringer when you sleep.

You will next be prompted to choose your next trigger, so choose SMS. You will then need to connect your phone number and IFTTT will send you a notification of a four digit pin, which you will need to need to input. You are only given one option at the next screen, so select “Send me an SMS” and then “Create Action.”

You are now at the final screen. I suggest you unselect the option “Receive notifications when this applet is runs.” Click finish and you are done. If you need to pause this notification, sign back in to IFTTT and click “My Applets.” You can then turn on or off each Applet.

IFTTT can do some many other cool things. I highly recommend you play around with it. I have about 100 Applets that run for myself and Deals Points.

If, upon visiting our Web Site, your use is limited to browsing our informational content, we will not require that you provide us with any personally identifiable information. However, we may request personal information from you at other times. For example:

  • If you enroll for a membership through our Web Site, we may ask that you provide us with certain personal information, including your name, credit card number, expiration date, e-mail address, mailing address and telephone number.  Your credit card information will be transferred to Stripe for processing (as discussed in more detail below) employs a variety security and risk management technologies to facilitate secure online transactions and to protect your credit information.   • If you post to our discussion forums, we will ask that you provide us with your name, e-mail address, and password.

  • If you choose to participate in a customer survey conducted by us or by one of our business partners, we may ask for your name, e-mail address and other information as may be required by the particular survey.
  • If you report a problem or submit a customer review, we will ask that you provide your name, e-mail address, membership number, address, phone number and fax number. Should you contact us for any reason other than to report a problem and/or submit a review, we may also keep a record and/ or copy of your correspondence with us.

Publishing Content (Comments, Pages, Posts, Forums)

Your Profile Picture (Gravatar), Display Name, Website (URL) (if any) and Biographical Info (if any) may be visible to visitors to the website (e.g. if you leave a comment, forum post, or contribute an article/post).

If you author an article/post, your Username, User ID, Profile Picture (Gravatar), Display Name, Website (URL) (if any) and Biographical Info (if any) are provided to any visitor using the website’s REST API interface.

If you upload media (e.g. images) to the website (in forums, posts, or comments), you should avoid uploading images with EXIF GPS location data included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data included in images on the website. Visitors using the website’s REST API interface can correlate uploaded media to a particular user. This may allow such visitors to map a user to a particular time and location if EXIF GPS location data was included in the uploaded media.

If you edit or publish an article/post, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

When visitors leave comments on one of our sites we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Comments may require manual approval by one of our employees or site owners. If you leave a comment on a site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies so we can recognize you as a commenter. These cookies will persist for one year.

Published content and comments are stored indefinitely unless deletion/removal is requested by the original author.

All forum posts and replies are public. When you create a topic or a reply, we collect your logged in account data, and the IP address where the post came from. The IP address is only visible to our support staff. You can edit or delete your existing posts/topics at any time.

HOW DO WE PROTECT THE SECURITY AND QUALITY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

To protect the security and quality of your personal information, we have implemented technical and managerial procedures to maintain accurate, current and complete information as well as to protect your personal information against loss, misuse or alteration when it is under our control. Your personally identifiable information will be encrypted and stored on our secured servers. Your personal information is also password protected so that access is limited to yourself and those with whom you share your password, Deals Points, LLC, as well as third-party access facilitated by Deals Points, LLC with your prior permission. We have also taken steps to help protect the integrity of your personal financial information when you complete a purchase transaction on our Web Site. As noted above, we use Stripe to facilitate confidential online business transactions. Stripe helps prevent your credit information from being read by unauthorized persons as this information is transmitted over the Internet. The Stripe System employs the Stripe Server using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption for the secure exchange of your personal information and the payment system. The Stripe transaction system passes your credit information through its system but does not retain any credit card numbers unless you are set up for renewals. Once the transaction is completed, information about the sale (without credit card information) is stored in a password-protected online database maintained by Stripe. Only in an offline and offsite accounting server does retain the entire transaction record. This eliminates the ability of hackers to gain access to your personal information. HOW DO WE USE YOUR INFORMATION?

We share and use the information we collect in the following ways:
  • To administer the Site: Your information helps us provide you with the services offered on our Site.

You may not otherwise use, modify, copy, print, display, reproduce, distribute or publish any information from the Web Site without the express, prior, written consent of DEALS POINTS, LLC. At any time, we may, without further notice, make changes to the Web Site, to these Terms and/or to the services described in these Terms.

 

  1. USER ACCOUNT, PASSWORD, SECURITY AND ELECTRONIC ACCOUNT SERVICES.

ONLINE ACCOUNT ACCESS. For certain types of features available through the Web Site, including the Online Account Access features (the “Online Service”), we require the use of encryption technologies provided for your protection and/or your use of a user identification name (“UserID”) and password after setting up a user account (“User Account”). The Online Service is available by clicking on the Online Account Access login at www.dealspoints.com. For self-enrollment, you must provide Account-specific information to authenticate yourself (e.g., Account owner name and address, Account number and meter number). In these Terms, “you” and “your” refer to each person, or, if applicable, the entity who is an owner, signer, or has unrestricted access to a User Account and each person that uses the Online Service with your permission (“Authorized User”). You may never use another person’s User Account and/or UserID without permission. When your Online Service is linked to one or more Accounts, DEALS POINTS, LLC may act on the oral, written, or electronic instructions of any authorized signer regarding your service for those Accounts. It is your responsibility to notify DEALS POINTS, LLC if an Authorized User should no longer be given access to an Account through the Online Service.

(b)        USER ACCOUNT AND PASSWORD. We use reasonable precautions to protect the privacy of your UserID, password and User Account information by utilizing a Secure Socket Layer (“SSL”) connection. Accordingly, your UserID, password and User Account information are encrypted using an SSL connection and are not expected to be read in an intelligible form as they travel to the Web Site. You, however, are ultimately responsible for protecting your UserID, password and User Account information from disclosure to third parties, and you are not permitted to circumvent the use of required encryption technologies. You are required to take reasonable precautions to safeguard your UserID and password. You agree to never leave your computer unattended while using the Online Service and to always exit the Online Service by clicking on “Log Out.” You also agree to immediately notify DEALS POINTS, LLC of any unauthorized use of your UserID, password and/or User Account, or any other breach of security by email at customerservice@dealspoints.com. You  are solely responsible for any activity that occurs with respect to your User Account and UserID. While we provide certain encryption technologies and use other reasonable precautions to protect your confidential information and provide suitable security, we do not and cannot guarantee or warrant that information transmitted through the Internet is secure, or that such transmissions are free from delay, error, interception or interruption.

(c)        RELIANCE BY DEALS POINTS, LLC. You authorize DEALS POINTS, LLC to rely on your UserID and password to identify you when you use the Online Service, and as signature authorization for any payment made using the Online Service. You acknowledge and agree that you are responsible for all payments you make using the Online Service and for paying any and all late charges or penalties. You also acknowledge and agree that if you permit another person or persons to use the Online Service or give them your UserID and/or password, you are responsible for any payment that person makes to your Account, even if the person exceeds your authorization. You agree that DEALS POINTS, LLC may comply with the Payment Instructions entered by any person using your UserID and Password, subject to the terms set forth more fully below in the Unauthorized Payments section of these Terms.

(d)       SECURITY. DEALS POINTS, LLC is committed to protecting the security and confidentiality of information about you and your Account and User Account. DEALS POINTS, LLC uses, and may in the future use, several different security methods to protect your Account and User Account information, including:

  • You can only access the Online Service with certain browsers that have high security standards.
  • The Online Service will automatically log off if prolonged periods of inactivity occur.
  • Your session will terminate if you navigate away from the Online Service to another website.

(e)        ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION.

(i)         Email and Online Message Center. When you enroll in the Online Service, you must designate a primary email address that will be used for receiving electronic communication. To the extent that DEALS POINTS, LLC maintains an online message center now or in the future, such exchange of communications shall be considered an electronic communication and may be utilized by DEALS POINTS, LLC for providing you notices pursuant to these Terms, as required by Applicable Law (as permitted) or generally regarding your Account(s) with DEALS POINTS, LLC. DEALS POINTS, LLC will NEVER send you email requesting confidential information such as Account numbers, usernames, or passwords and you should NEVER respond to any email requesting such information. If you receive such an email purportedly from DEALS POINTS, LLC, do not respond to the email and notify DEALS POINTS, LLC by forwarding the email to customerservice@dealspoints.com.

 (ii)       Usage of Electronic Communication. By your enrollment in the Online Service, you agree to receive these Terms and any disclosures or notices required by Applicable Law and all other communications electronically to the email address you designate in your account profile. You also agree that DEALS POINTS, LLC may respond to any communication you  send  to  DEALS POINTS, LLC  with  an electronic communication, regardless of whether your original communication with DEALS POINTS, LLC was an electronic communication. Any electronic communication DEALS POINTS, LLC sends to you will be considered received within one calendar days of the date such communication is sent by computer servers utilized by DEALS POINTS, LLC to the email address you designate in your account profile or posted to DEALS POINTS, LLC’s online message center (if applicable). To the extent permissible under Applicable Law, any electronic communication you send to DEALS POINTS, LLC will not be effective until DEALS POINTS, LLC has had a reasonable opportunity to act on the electronic communication. You should not rely on electronic communication if you need to communicate with DEALS POINTS, LLC immediately and, in no event, should your sole method of communication with DEALS POINTS, LLC regarding any emergency be by electronic communication. DEALS POINTS, LLC strongly suggests that you report all matters requiring immediate attention to DEALS POINTS, LLC by emailing customerservice@dealspoints.com. DEALS POINTS, LLC may require you to provide written confirmation of any verbal or electronic notice of alleged error by DEALS POINTS, LLC.

(f)        PERMISSIBLE ACTIVITIES. You may perform the following activities with the Online Service:

  • Account Inquiry. You may retrieve Account information (such as a balance due) and view up to several months of transactions.
  • Subscribe to Email Subscription. You may subscribe to our email subscription service.
  • Forums. You may view and post in our forums.
  • Premium Access. You may access Premium Member only areas.

 (G)      DISCLOSURE OF ACCOUNT INFORMATION. DEALS POINTS, LLC will not disclose any information to third parties about you, including email addresses, or your Account, except in the situations described below or     as      otherwise     set     forth     in      DEALS POINTS, LLC’s       Privacy       Policy       located       at www.dealspoints.com/privacy. We will disclose such information:

  • where disclosure is necessary for completing payments, or to resolve a problem related to a payment;
  • to verify the condition and existence of your Account for a third party, such as a credit bureau or merchant;
  • to persons authorized by law in the course of their official duties;

(n)        TERMINATION OF ACCOUNT. DEALS POINTS, LLC reserves the right to terminate your use of the Online Service for any reason including inactivity and at any time without notice to you. You have the right to terminate your use of the Online Service by calling DEALS POINTS, LLC at 1- XXX-XXX-XXXX or by writing to DEALS POINTS, LLC at the address provided at the end of these Terms. Any termination of your use of the Online Service, whether initiated by you or by DEALS POINTS, LLC, will not affect any of your or DEALS POINTS, LLC’s rights and obligations under these Terms that have arisen before the effective date of such termination.

(o)        RELATED AGREEMENTS. Your Account linked to the Online Service will also be governed by the agreements, disclosures, DEALS POINTS, LLC’s service tariff in your area, and other documents provided to you in connection with the opening of your Account, as they may be amended periodically. If any inconsistency exists between such other documentation and these Terms, then these Terms shall control to the extent of inconsistency.

  1. PAYMENT

If you decide to purchase one of our subscriptions, you agree to pay all fee associated with that subscription. We use Stripe as our payment processor and your credit card information is stored with their service. You also authorize Stripe and Deals Points to charge your credit card for on-going subscription until you cancel.

(a)        NO WARRANTIES; INDEMNIFICATION. YOU EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF THE WEB SITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. Nevertheless, the Web Site may, from time to time, contain information on the current or prospective financial condition of this and/or certain other companies. Cinemark Movie Club Review

Cinemark Movie Club costs $8.99 per month and allows you to see one movie per month, no online ticketing fees, unused tickets roll over, and 20% off concessions. Plus you can buy a companion ticket for $8.99, and see another movie with a companion that month for only $8.99 each. 

Why We Chose Movie Club

MoviePass is on their death bed. I was an early adopter of MoviePass when they dropped to $10 per month for unlimited movies in August 2017. The service was amazing for exactly one year. You could see any movie at any theater and I regularly got $30-40 per month in value for my $10 per month. As most people predicted, the service was unsustainable. MoviePass’ leadership did not take the right steps quick enough to slow their dwindling cash reserves. MoviePass since August 2018, has become pretty much unusable. MoviePass started to only allow certain movies on certain days, which were usually small independent films. Gone were the days of being able to see a Marvel movie or the top blockbuster. Plus, a movie could be listed as available for that day, and then the ability to check-in disappeared sometime early in the day when MoviePass reached the maximum number of tickets they wanted to allow in that particular day. So we canceled and looked for other options.

Sinemia is untrustworthy. Sinemia, in theory, seems like a great replacement for MoviePass. Sinemia has several plans but the most popular is three movies per month for $8.99 and no membership fee if you pay for a year in advance (monthly is $19.99 membership fee to start). The issue is that Sinemia is not transparent and adds fees without notice. Sinemia previously issued physical cards, but then switched to cardless, which meant that you had to pay the Fandango or a movie theater’s online ticketing fee. Then without notice, Sinemia added a random $1.80 processing fee on top of the online ticketing fee. In response to a class-action lawsuit about the $1.80 fee, Sinemia re-introduced the physical card that avoids the $1.80 processing fee, but charged a one-time $15 per person fee for it. I decided to avoid them because (1) I don’t think they will last a full year (so you would have to do a chargeback on your credit card if you did the annual plan), and (2) I worry that they will add another fee or change their service again to prevent going out of business.

An AMC theater is not near me. AMC has an amazing subscription service called A-List. It costs $19.99 per month and allows you to see 3 movies per week in any format including IMAX. Plus there are no online ticketing fees, so you can choose your seat for free. Unfortunately, the closest AMC theater to me is 45 minutes away, whereas there is Cinemark theater that is only 10 minutes away. However, if an AMC were closer, I would definitely choose A-List over Cinemark Movie Club. 

Cinemark Movie Club is better than buying at the theater.  The Cinemark theater closest to me is very upscale with assigned seating and recliners. Two tickets including tax and online fees is $28.10 at my theater, whereas with Movie Club it is only $19.06 ($8.99 + tax *2). If we were to maximize Movie Club and buy two tickets for two movies, we would save $18.08 a month by subscribing to Movie Club over buying as a one-off purchase with the theater. Since the monthly movie credit rolls over each month, I am contemplating getting two subscriptions for my fiancee and I for those months in which we want to see 3 movies or more (e.g., I would use my monthly credit plus $8.99 for friend for Movie 1, she would use her monthly credit plus $8.99 for movie for friend for Movie 2, and I would pay $8.99 * 2 for the third movie). Plus you get 20% off concessions, which is another nice way to save money. 

Conclusion

Cinemark Movie Club is not as competitive as AMC’s A-List service, but if you don’t have an AMC near you, Movie Club is a pretty good option to save you money.
