Capital One recently announced four new transfer partners and an improvement of transfer ratios for several partners.
This post will cover everything you need to know about transferring Capital One miles to airline and hotel programs, including the ratio, transfer time, and our favorite options.
Airline Mileage Transfers
Capital One miles can be transferred to 16 airline mileage programs, but the transfer ratios vary.
Seven airline mileage programs transfer at a one Capital One mile to one airline mile ratio, but the remaining programs transfer at lower rates.
For example, JetBlue transfers at a 2 Capital One miles to 1 JetBlue point ratio.
Capital One is also adding British Airways and Turkish Airlines as transfer partners later in 2021.
|Airline||Transfer Ratio||Transfer Time|
|AeroMexico||1 to 1||Instant|
|Air Canada (Aeroplan)||2 to 1.5||Instant|
|Air France (Flying Blue)||2 to 1.5||Instant|
|Alitalia||2 to 1.5||Instant|
|Avianca (LifeMiles)||1 to 1||Instant|
|British Airways (future)||2 to 1.5||Unknown|
|Cathay Pacific (Asia Miles)||1 to 1||3 to 5 days|
|Emirates||2 to 1||Instant|
|Etihad||1 to 1||24 hours|
|EVA||2 to 1.5||24-48 hours|
|Finnair||1 to 1||Instant|
|JetBlue||2 to 1||Instant|
|Qantas||1 to 1||24-48 hours|
|Singapore (KrisFlyer)||2 to 1||24-48 hours|
|Tap Portugal||1 to 1||Unknown|
|Turkish (future)||2 to 1.5||Unknown|
My favorite transfer options would be:
- Avianca LifeMiles (1 to 1) – Great option for avoiding fuel surcharges on flights to Europe or complex routings.
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles (1 to 1)- Good option for booking OneWorld awards (American, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines).
- Etihad Guest (1 to 1)- Etihad has several sweet spots on their partner award chart including flights on American Airlines, ANA, and Asiana Airlines.
Hotel Points Transfers
Capital One miles can be transferred to three hotel points programs, but you will likely get better value by transferring to airline programs.
