World of Hyatt has some amazing hotel selections and a competitive award chart, but its loyalty program isn’t known for having big points sales.

However, if you don’t have enough Hyatt points, it could be a good idea buying some for the award stay you want. Below, we’ll talk about the program’s latest promotions and compare them to the previous ones.

Current Promotion on Purchased Points

Through July 1, 2024, you can purchase Hyatt points with a 20% bonus for as low as 2.0 cents per point when you purchase at least 5,000 points. The normal cost to purchase points is 2.4 cents per point.

How Many Points Can You Buy?

World of Hyatt members can buy up to 55,000 points per account per calendar year, before any bonuses, which is quite low compared to other hotel programs.

IHG One Rewards has a 150,000 annual limit and Marriot Bonvoy has a 100,000 annual limit (pre-bonus).

What Credit Card Should You Use to Buy Points?

Buying points from World of Hyatt goes through a third party called Points.com, which means the points you buy won’t be categorized as hotel or travel purchases.

To maximize your points purchases, use a card that earns great rewards on everyday spending. Here are great options for you to choose from:

When Do World of Hyatt Points Expire?

World of Hyatt points expire after 24 months of account inactivity. However, you can reset the expiration date of your points through qualifying account activities, which normally involve earning or redeeming at least one point.

Redeeming Hyatt Points

World of Hyatt offers exceptional value for points redemptions across its diverse hotel portfolio. The program uses a straightforward award chart with eight categories for standard properties, ranging from 5,000 to 40,000 points per night at the standard rate. All-inclusive resorts have their own six-category chart. Unlike some competitors, Hyatt maintains predictable award pricing without dynamic rates.

Free night awards provide some of the best redemption opportunities. Members can often get outsized value, especially at luxury properties like Park Hyatt and Alila resorts. On average, we value Hyatt points at 2.39 cents per point based on our data study.

Hyatt waives resort fees on award stays for all members, adding to the potential savings. Globalist elite members also receive waived parking fees on award nights.

For maximum flexibility, Hyatt allows points to be redeemed for standard rooms, club rooms, and both standard and premium suites. Suite upgrades can also be confirmed on paid stays using points. The program stands out by offering these options systematically.

Other redemption choices include dining and spa credits, though these typically provide lower value than free nights. Members can also book curated local experiences through Hyatt’s Find platform using points.
