Breeze Airways just announced its largest route expansion yet, adding 14 new routes and four cities to its network starting in May. If you fly from underserved mid-sized airports, this matters—Breeze is one of the few carriers actively building nonstop service where the legacy airlines won’t bother.

Three New Cities Join the Breeze Network
Breeze is adding three entirely new destinations to its route map, each fitting the airline’s strategy of serving airports with limited competition.
Atlantic City becomes Breeze’s newest focus city, and it’s a meaningful addition for travelers in southern New Jersey. The airport had just one carrier—Spirit—for roughly a decade until Allegiant arrived last year. Breeze will be the third airline, and notably, it’s bringing the airport’s only non-Florida routes. Spirit and Allegiant both fly exclusively to Florida destinations from Atlantic City.
Brownsville/South Padre Island in Texas gains its first leisure-focused service. The airport currently has extremely limited options: United Express flies to Houston, American Eagle connects to Dallas, and a small Mexican carrier operates 12-seat turboprops to Monterrey. Breeze’s arrival opens entirely new possibilities for Texas-Florida travel.
Nassau, Bahamas becomes Breeze’s fourth international destination, joining Cancun, Punta Cana, and Montego Bay. The airline launched its first international services in early January, and adding the Bahamas capital continues that Caribbean expansion. For what it’s worth, Breeze had planned Montego Bay service earlier, but Jamaica’s devastating hurricane forced a delay.
San Antonio Returns After a Three-Year Hiatus
Breeze previously served San Antonio but pulled out in May 2022. Now it’s returning with three new routes connecting the Texas city to Memphis, Raleigh/Durham, and Pensacola.
The interesting detail here is that all three routes have no current nonstop competition. The Raleigh/Durham route previously existed—Frontier, ExpressJet, and Southwest all tried it at various points—but it’s been unserved since 2019. The Pensacola route has never been flown by any carrier.
I’d guess Breeze learned something from its initial exit and sees better conditions now. The traffic numbers support the case: Raleigh/Durham-San Antonio averages 98 passengers daily each way, while the Pensacola and Memphis routes show 66 and 52 respectively. Those aren’t huge numbers, but they don’t need to be for Breeze’s twice-weekly service model.

- San Antonio to Memphis: Starting May 8, flying Mondays and Fridays (year-round)
- Orlando to Brownsville: Starting May 15, flying Mondays and Fridays (year-round)

Keep in mind that seasonal routes operate only during Breeze’s summer schedule. If you’re planning fall or winter travel on these routes, they may not be available.
The Airports That Win Big
Two cities stand out as the clear winners in this expansion: Louisville and Raleigh/Durham, each gaining three new routes.
Louisville’s additions are particularly notable. The Los Angeles route at 1,842 miles becomes the city’s second-longest, trailing only Breeze’s existing San Francisco service. Before this announcement, LA was Louisville’s largest unserved domestic market with 107 passengers traveling indirectly each day. That’s solid demand that finally gets a nonstop option.
Once these routes launch, Louisville will have nine total Breeze routes while Raleigh will offer 38 seasonal and year-round nonstop destinations—a substantial network for a single carrier at one airport.
Atlantic City also deserves mention. Beyond gaining its third airline, the airport finally gets connectivity beyond Florida. If you’ve been stuck choosing between Spirit and Allegiant flights to Orlando or Fort Lauderdale, you’ll now have Charleston and Raleigh options too.
The Verdict
Breeze’s 14-route expansion reinforces what the airline does best: finding markets the legacy carriers ignore and providing nonstop service where connections were the only option. The twice-weekly frequencies won’t work for business travelers, but leisure flyers in cities like Louisville, Atlantic City, and Brownsville gain meaningful new options.
The real test will be whether routes like Orlando-Brownsville and the five never-before-served markets can generate enough demand to stick around long-term. Breeze is betting they can.
