No, you can’t transfer American Express Membership Rewards points directly to United MileagePlus miles. 

However, you can book United award flights through United’s Star Alliance partners, such as ANA, Avianca LifeMiles, and Air Canada Aeroplan

Transferring your Amex points to these airlines can be a better deal than using United Airlines miles.

Technically, you could transfer Amex Membership Rewards to Marriott and then to United Airlines, but with the transfer rates, 60,000 Amex points would only equal about 30,000 United miles.
