American Express will open its first Japanese Centurion Lounge at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) on July 16, 2025. This marks the 30th Centurion Lounge globally and the fourth location in Asia.

You’ll find the lounge in Terminal 3 near gate 114 on the fourth floor. This terminal handles the airport’s primary international flights and sits within the terminal’s largest lounge complex alongside the Japan Airlines Sakura Lounge and Cathay Pacific Lounge. The location puts you right in the heart of Haneda’s premium lounge offerings.

The space spans 683 square meters (7,352 square feet) with seating for 122 guests. This makes it one of the smaller Centurion Lounges in the network, which could lead to crowding during peak hours. Given Japan’s popularity as a travel destination right now, you might want to arrive early to secure a spot during busy periods.

Food and Beverage Experience

The lounge features a live, open kitchen where you can watch chefs prepare meals throughout the day. Chef Satoshi Ogino designed the menu in partnership with American Express, offering both Japanese and Western cuisine options including sushi and ramen. This partnership brings authentic local flavors that showcase Tokyo’s culinary scene.

The buffet provides a variety of options beyond the signature dishes, ensuring you’ll find something whether you prefer familiar Western fare or want to explore Japanese cuisine. You’ll also find a dedicated sweets bar serving tea and Japanese wagashi sweets, perfect for those who want to experience traditional Japanese confections.

The full bar stocks wine, locally inspired cocktails, Japanese beers, sake, and shochu. This selection gives you access to both international favorites and local specialties that reflect Japan’s drinking culture. The cocktail menu specifically incorporates local ingredients and flavors that you won’t find at other Centurion Lounges.

Special Features and Amenities

The lounge includes several unique amenities designed specifically for the Japanese market. Private phone rooms come equipped with curated audio programs for meditation, helping you recharge before your flight. These quiet spaces address the need for privacy in Japanese business culture while offering a wellness component that’s increasingly popular among travelers.

Centurion cardholders gain access to an exclusive VIP area with a private beverage station. This separate space provides additional exclusivity beyond the standard lounge experience and includes curated displays of Japanese artwork and photography.

The entire space showcases locally sourced decor and artwork that celebrates Japanese culture. This attention to local design elements creates an authentic atmosphere that connects you to your destination even while you’re still in the airport.

Restrooms and shower suites are available for all guests, along with the standard Centurion Lounge amenities you’d expect from the network. These facilities become particularly valuable for long-haul international travelers who need to refresh before continuing their journey.

The Verdict

Given the lounge’s compact footprint, you should expect a more intimate experience compared to larger Centurion Lounges in major U.S. airports. The 122-person capacity means the space could feel crowded during busy international departure times, particularly given the current surge in travel to Japan.

The emphasis on Japanese cultural elements and locally sourced design creates a unique experience within the Centurion Lounge network. You’ll encounter authentic touches that reflect the destination rather than a standardized lounge experience, making this location distinct from other Centurion Lounges you might have visited.
