The American Express Centurion Lounge in Atlanta is an impressive addition to the already stellar Centurion Lounge network. The lounge’s expansive size, unique amenities, and locally-inspired design elements make it a standout among airport lounges.

The outdoor terraces are a welcome surprise, offering a relaxing escape from the bustling terminal. The whiskey bar is another highlight, providing a cozy space to unwind with a premium drink. The lounge’s ample seating options cater to various needs, from solo travelers to families and business travelers.

Chef Deborah VanTrece’s Southern-inspired menu is a delightful showcase of local flavors, with the buffet offering a satisfying selection of dishes. The bars also impress with their curated cocktails and extensive whiskey collection.

However, the lounge’s popularity may lead to occasional overcrowding, especially during peak hours. The inconspicuous entrance and limited signage might also make the lounge difficult for first-time visitors to find.

Despite these minor drawbacks, the Atlanta Centurion Lounge is a top-tier airport lounge that offers a luxurious and comfortable respite for American Express cardholders. Its unique amenities, delectable food and drink options, and spacious layout make it a must-visit for anyone passing through Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

The Amex Centurion Lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is conveniently situated between terminals D and E. Open daily from 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM, this sprawling lounge offers over 13,000 square feet of space for travelers to relax and recharge before their flights. Guests can easily access the lounge via an elevator or stairs located near the Plaza food court.

Layout and Seating

Upon entering the lounge, visitors are greeted by a spacious seating area divided by various tables and chairs in different styles. The left side of the room features low-top tables with two to four chairs, perfect for small groups or solo travelers, while quarter-booths with regular-height tables accommodate one or two people comfortably. A long table with office-style chairs and easily accessible outlets caters to those looking to work on their devices.

The lounge’s seating area offers stunning views, with the left side overlooking the odd-numbered E-concourse gates and the right-side windows, lightly frosted with the Amex logo, providing a unique perspective of the D concourse below.

My Mini Review

During my visit to the Amex Centurion Lounge at CLT, I was impressed by the spacious layout and the variety of seating options available. The lounge was quite crowded, which is understandable given its location at one of American Airlines’ busiest hubs. Despite the crowd, I managed to find a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy the amenities.

The food selection was a step up from other lounges I’ve visited, with various options catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. Chef Gregory Collier’s Southern-inspired dishes were a nice touch, adding a local flavor to the dining experience. The bar was well-stocked, and the staff was friendly and efficient in serving drinks.

One downside was the limited number of shower rooms, which could lead to longer wait times during peak hours. The conference table’s popularity also made finding a workspace when traveling with a group challenging. However, the lounge offers ample power outlets and high-speed Wi-Fi, making staying connected and productive easy.

The family room is a great addition for those traveling with children, providing a dedicated space for kids to play and relax without disturbing other guests.

Past the dining area, there is an additional seating space with conference tables near the business center. The right-wing features more seating options, a coffee station, and a “nap” area with lounge-style chairs, although these seats are not entirely private.

The complimentary spa services at Exhale Spa are a welcome treat, allowing guests to relax and rejuvenate during their travels. The shower suite is another appreciated amenity, especially for those on long journeys.

The lounge’s layout and seating options cater to various needs, whether you’re looking to work, socialize, or simply unwind. The family room is a thoughtful addition, providing a dedicated space for children to play without disturbing other guests.

However, the lounge can get quite crowded at times, which may lead to a shortage of seating and longer wait times for restrooms. The men’s bathroom, in particular, only has two stalls and two urinals, which may result in a wait during busy periods.

Despite these minor drawbacks, the American Express Centurion Lounge at DFW remains the top choice for travelers seeking a premium lounge experience. The combination of excellent food and beverages, complimentary spa services, and diverse amenities make this lounge a must-visit for eligible cardholders.

The decor features rich woods contrasted with vibrant colors and stylish design elements like sculptural light fixtures. Natural light filters in through floor-to-ceiling windows on one side, offering tarmac views.

Strategically placed power outlets and USB ports allow guests to stay charged throughout the lounge. While the layout effectively divides the space into intimate nooks, walkways can feel cramped during busy periods.

The new Amex Centurion Lounge at Denver airport is truly a knockout in terms of size, aesthetics, and amenities. The airy, upscale design creates an inviting atmosphere accentuated by thoughtful touches like the game room.

However, the lounge can feel a bit disjointed in flow, with cramped corridors and separate food and drink lines. While the cuisine aims for local flair, the execution sometimes renders dishes lukewarm – a letdown compared to the hype.

Still, the attentive staff, abundant charging stations, and varied seating cater well to travelers. The crafty beer bar is a refreshing airport lounge perk. And families will appreciate the dedicated play space and privacy nooks.

During peak hours, the lounge can feel crowded despite its sprawl, with waitlists common. But those willing to arrive early can luxuriate in this impressive, contemporary hub before their Denver departures or connections.

The Amex Centurion Lounge at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is located in Terminal D, inside the Duty-Free Shop near Gate D6. The lounge operates daily from 6:00 AM to 9:30 PM and spans approximately 8,500 square feet on the mezzanine level, accessible only by elevator.

Layout and Seating

The lounge is divided into three distinct areas. The main seating area features various leather chairs, bench seating, tables with lime green chairs, olive green sofa chairs, and semi-private couches with partitions.

At the back of the main lounge, there is a small, partitioned-off television area with additional seating and a conference table. The dining area offers 2-person tables, bench seating, a bar, and a larger high-top table.

Additional seating can be found near the telephone room and business center in a partitioned-off area.

Amenities

Shower Suite: Upon arrival, reserve a spot in the shower queue at the front desk. The suite features a toilet, sink, walk-in shower, makeup mirror, and L’Occitane toiletries. 

Business Center: Located near the entrance, it offers a large communal table with 8 seats, a computer, and a free printer.

Telephone Room: A small, private space across from the business center for making phone calls without background noise. 

Family Room: Features a television, toys, and child-sized seating options for kids to play and have fun.

My Mini Review

During my visit to the Amex Centurion Lounge at IAH, I found the space to be well-designed and clean, offering a variety of seating options suitable for both work and relaxation. The abundance of power outlets was a great convenience for business travelers like myself.

While the food and beverage selection varies seasonally, it consistently impressed me with its quality and diversity compared to other airport dining options. The attentive and friendly customer service provided by the lounge staff also stood out, making me feel welcome and well taken care of.

However, the lounge’s location proved to be a bit challenging to find, requiring a journey through a duty-free shop and an elevator to the mezzanine level. The lack of a spa and outdoor views, which are available at some other Centurion Lounges, was also a bit disappointing.

Despite these minor drawbacks, the IAH Centurion Lounge still offers a comfortable and inviting space to work, relax, and enjoy complimentary refreshments between flights. The shower suite is a particularly valuable amenity for those on longer layovers or arriving from international flights.

While the lounge can get busy during peak hours, leading to some crowding and potential waitlists for the shower, I found that the lounges’ benefits far outweighed any inconveniences. Overall, the Amex Centurion Lounge at IAH is a solid choice for eligible cardholders looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the airport terminal.

The Centurion Lounge Las Vegas is located in Concourse D near gate D1 at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). It is open daily from 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM and is approximately 13,400 square feet.

Layout and Seating

The expanded Centurion Lounge features a variety of comfortable seating options spread across several distinct areas. Guests can relax in plush armchairs, loveseats, or cubicle-style couches. The lounge also offers semi-private nooks built into the walls for a cozier experience.

Ample tables and chairs are available for dining or working, including a long communal table with power outlets in the back of the lounge. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide expansive views of the tarmac from many of the seating areas.

The renovated lounge features an array of top-notch amenities for travelers:

Shower Suite: The lounge has a single shower room stocked with L’Occitane toiletries for guests looking to freshen up before or between flights. 

Private Phone Rooms: Two soundproof phone rooms allow guests to make calls or participate in virtual meetings without disturbing others.

My Mini Review

The expanded Centurion Lounge at LAS is a welcome oasis for travelers. The sleek decor, comfortable seating, and tarmac views create a relaxing atmosphere. I especially appreciated the private phone rooms and ample dining space for making calls.

The star of the show is the food and beverage offerings. Chef Canteenwalla’s menu was outstanding – the chimichurri chicken packed a flavorful punch and the banana foster pie was pure decadence. Craft cocktails from the bar were another treat.

My one critique would be that the temperature of some hot dishes could have been better. The lounge can also get quite busy during peak times, so be prepared for potential crowds. During my visit, there was a short wait to use the shower.

Overall, the expanded Centurion Lounge at LAS is a cut above your standard airport lounge. It offers excellent food and drinks, chic decor, and thoughtful amenities. If you have access through an eligible American Express card, visiting during your travels through Vegas is worth visiting.

The American Express Centurion Lounge at LAX

The American Express Centurion Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), on the second floor between the international arrivals and immigration area and the international baggage claim.

The 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM lounge spans approximately 14,000 square feet and can seat over 200 guests.

Layout and Seating

The sprawling lounge features a variety of rooms and seating options connected by long hallways. Near the entrance is a stylish area with several dining tables, a communal table, and a small bar.

Further into the lounge, guests will find a room with a large communal table intended as a workstation, and some semi-private desks along the hall. The lounge also has two tranquility rooms – a bright sunrise room to help you feel more awake, and a dark moonrise room for unwinding.

Amenities

Spa: Guests can enjoy complimentary massages and nail treatments on a first-come, first-served basis from around 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. 

Shower Suites: Two shower suites are available, including one that is handicap-accessible and stocked with L’Occitane bath products. 

Family Room: A dedicated multi-purpose room serves as a place for families with children. 

Quiet Room: A dark room at the back of the lounge provides chaise lounges for napping. 

Business Center: Semi-private cube-style desks are available for getting work done. 

Restrooms: The lounge has two fully enclosed toilet stalls in the restroom.

Food and Beverage

The lounge’s focal point is an impressive bar with high ceilings. Here, you’ll find the main buffet area with dining tables.

Food: Chef Nancy Silverton, of Mozza restaurant fame, has designed a full hot and cold breakfast buffet from 6:00 to 11:30 AM with delicious options like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and pastries. Lunch and dinner feature a variety of meat-based and vegetarian dishes from 11:30 to 9:30 PM. 

Beverages: In addition to the main bar, there is a second smaller bar and several self-serve beverage stations with coffee, tea, water, and soft drinks. Breakfast cocktails like Bloody Marys and mimosas are served in the morning, and the full bar opens after around 10:30 p.m.

My Mini Review

During my morning visit, I was truly impressed by the Amex Centurion Lounge at LAX. The sprawling space manages to feel intimate thanks to the various rooms and seating nooks. While it can get crowded, I was able to find a quiet spot to enjoy my meal.

Speaking of food, the breakfast was outstanding – especially the otherworldly scrambled eggs and sausage. The buffet had a wide variety of tasty hot and cold options. It was the best lounge food I’ve had.

The stylish bar looked very inviting, though I didn’t partake. I appreciated the multiple beverage stations, which allowed me to easily refill my coffee and water without returning to the buffet.

It was great to freshen up with a shower, though I was surprised there were only two shower suites for such a large lounge. The spa is also a nice touch, but appointments fill up quickly.

My main complaint is the lack of available seating during peak times. Most seats are communal rather than private, and the lounge can feel a bit cramped and crowded.

However, the excellent food and drinks, variety of amenities, and sleek decor make this my favorite lounge at LAX. It’s well worth visiting early or during a layover.

The American Express Centurion Lounge at Miami International Airport (MIA) is located in Concourse D near Gate D12. The 12,000+ square foot lounge is open daily from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM and can be accessed via elevators located beneath the Centurion Lounge signage in the main concourse.

Layout and Seating

The Miami Centurion Lounge features high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide ample natural light and great views of the tarmac. The expanded lounge offers plenty of seating options spread across several distinct areas.

Just past the reception desk is the main dining room and bar area with cafe-style tables. Additional seating can be found along a narrow corridor on each side of the welcome desk. The back portion of the lounge houses the most relaxation space, with a variety of chairs and solo seating arrangements.

Amenities

Exhale Spa: Enjoy a complimentary 15-minute massage or manicure at the Exhale Spa, open from 9am-8pm. Appointments are first-come, first-served.

Family Room: The colorful family room comes stocked with games, toys and kid-sized furniture. No reservations are required. 

Shower Suite: Freshen up before your flight in the shower suite, which includes a rainfall shower and L’Occitane bath products. Note that there is often a waitlist for the single shower room.

Business Center: Get work done at the large communal table, make copies at the printer station, or find privacy in one of two phone rooms. 

Restrooms: Two sets of restrooms can be found on either side of the lounge.

Food and Beverage

Food: The cuisine is curated by James Beard Award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein. Breakfast offers dishes like lemon ricotta pancakes and shakshuka. All-day dining features Latin-inspired fare such as braised chicken thighs and pea soup. 

Beverages: The bar program is designed by mixologist Jim Meehan and includes craft cocktails like the Key Lime Gimlet. Wines are selected by sommelier Anthony Giglio and include Malbec and Prosecco. Local Panther Coffee is available.

My Mini Review

The Miami Centurion Lounge nails the basics – it’s spacious, bright, thoughtfully designed and has great apron views. The locally-inspired food and drink shine, especially the refreshing cocktails and Chef Michelle’s vibrant Latin cuisine.

However, the lounge can get very crowded, making it hard to find a seat. The family room is a welcome addition for those traveling with young kids. While the spa is lovely, the single shower suite is often booked with long wait times.

The MIA Centurion Lounge is still my first choice at the airport. But I make a point to arrive early, put my name on the shower and spa lists immediately, and head straight to the back of the lounge where it’s usually a bit quieter. Even with the crowds, it beats the busy terminal and offers tasty food and drinks in a chic space.

The Amex Centurion Lounge at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport is located in Terminal 4. It is open daily from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. At approximately 15,000 square feet spread across two floors, it is one of the largest Centurion Lounges in the network. Guests can find the lounge entrance just past security on the left.

Layout and Seating

The lounge’s layout spans two levels connected by a central “bridge.” The upper level, where you enter, has most of the seating with room for 223 passengers.

Ample seating options line the window-filled corridors on both floors, providing great tarmac views. Guests can relax in armchairs with cafe tables, couches, semi-private cubicles, and at dining tables or high-top communal tables.

Small phone rooms and cubbies with unique vintage decor are tucked away throughout the space, offering private spots to sit and chat. A family room near the entrance provides a quiet area for those traveling with children.

The JFK Centurion Lounge is packed with premium amenities to enjoy during your stay:

Equinox Body Lab: This mini wellness area offers self-guided yoga, meditation, stretching sessions, and massage devices.

Conference Room: An 8-person glass-enclosed meeting room can be used on a first-come, first-served basis.

Workspaces: Find a large communal table with desk lamps, as well as semi-private workstations and cute phone booths for private calls.

Food: In the mornings, enjoy items like egg sandwiches, bacon, potatoes, and spinach. The lunch and dinner spread features dishes such as fennel salad, steak with romesco sauce, mushroom “po’ boys,” and indulgent chocolate cake. Food is individually portioned, and you can request as much as you’d like.

The flagship JFK Centurion Lounge soars above the rest thanks to its unique amenities and vintage NYC-inspired design. From the moment you spot the lush green wall at the entrance, it’s clear this lounge is something special.

With seating for over 350 guests spread across two levels, overcrowding is rarely an issue. I loved all the different seating nooks and crannies, especially the cute phone booths and Prohibition-era “1850” speakeasy tucked away on the lower level.

The locally curated food menu was the star of the show. I sampled several delicious small plates, including the addictive chocolate cake. Cocktails were top-notch, and the specialty coffee bar was a welcome perk.

My only complaints are minor. While I didn’t have to wait to enter, I’ve heard the lounge can develop a waitlist during peak evening hours. The family room also seemed underwhelming, with no toys or activities for kids.

But overall, American Express has truly raised the bar with this JFK lounge. From the chic decor to the NYC-inspired food and drinks to the semi-private seating areas, it delivers a premium experience that feels a cut above your standard airport lounge. Just be sure to allow ample time to reach your gate in this huge terminal.

Seating options accommodate a variety of needs, from solo business travelers to families. Amenities like the shower room, family space, and phone booths are welcome touches. The buffet’s restaurant-quality cuisine and craft cocktails from the bar are definite highlights.

The only downsides are the lack of tarmac views and the lounge’s popularity, which can sometimes lead to crowding. However, the staff keep everything clean and well-stocked even during busy periods.

One drawback is the lounge’s location in Terminal A-West – it requires a bit of a trek for those departing from other terminals, but the walk is worth it for a longer layover. The recent expansion has transformed the SFO Centurion Lounge into a world-class space that is hands down one of Amex’s nicest outposts. While it lacks some amenities found in other locations like a spa, the sprawling square footage, superlative food and beverage program, and chic decor more than compensate.

Chef Ravi Kapur’s creative Asian-fusion menu is a delectable standout – I loved sampling bites like the miso soup and goat cheese flatbread from the buffet’s impressive spread. Two sleek bars shake up stellar craft cocktails while the curated wine flights featuring top Napa and Sonoma varietals lend a sense of place.

The expanded restrooms with luxe showers are a welcome addition, as are the private phone rooms for quiet calls. Seating is plentiful and comfortable, with options to fit every mood from social to serene. I appreciate the variety of dining, lounging, and working areas.

However, the lounge’s popularity means it still gets crowded during peak times. Finding a seat was challenging during the lunch rush, and I had to wait for one of the private phone rooms. The space also lacks airside views or outdoor seating.

Despite these quibbles, the refreshed SFO Centurion Lounge sets the bar high. Its unrivaled food and beverage, thoughtful decor, and generous square footage make it a haven worth arriving early for. While it may not solve the network’s overcrowding woes entirely, the expansion definitely elevates the experience.

Moving further into the lounge, the ceilings get lower in a more traditional lounge area that offers additional dining tables, relaxation seats, and personal nooks built around the perimeter, which provide great views of the B gates.

Breakfast options include peach cobbler french toast, sweet potato frittata, and steel-cut oats. All-day dining features dishes like tuna croquettes with remoulade and blackened chicken cobb salad.

Beverages: The lounge has a full bar with a signature cocktail menu using premium spirits. Wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks are also available. Three self-serve beverage stations provide coffee, water, and iced tea.

The innovative “Blue Roast” coffee bar, the first of its kind in a Centurion Lounge, offers barista-prepared drinks using local Caffè Umbria coffee. Guests can also order smoothies, kombucha, and casual fare like kale chips and oat-based power bowls.

My Mini Review

The new Amex Centurion Lounge in Seattle is a major upgrade over the old location. I love the stylish decor, especially the open-air atrium that allows for high ceilings and wonderful views of the tarmac and mountains. There’s plenty of seating in an assortment of configurations for relaxing, dining, and getting work done.

The food and drinks are definitely highlights. The menus from local Chef Kristi Brown offer unique, flavorful dishes you won’t find at other airport lounges. And I’m really impressed by the Blue Roast coffee bar, which serves delicious barista-made espresso drinks and grab-and-go bites.

While the shower, phone booths and multipurpose room are useful, I do wish the lounge offered a few more amenities like a family room or spa. The restroom situation is vastly improved with more stalls, though lines can still form during peak times.

Another potential downside is crowding. In the mornings especially, finding a seat can sometimes be tricky. But overall, Amex has done an excellent job with this lounge, and it’s definitely one of my favorite Centurions now. 

The American Express Centurion Lounge at Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is located in International Terminal C, across from Gate 15 on level 2. The lounge is open daily from 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM and has ample seating for over 130 guests.

Upon entering the main lounge, you’ll find a series of interconnected rooms with see-through walls. The first room features a large screen TV surrounded by comfortable sofa-style chairs, with a wood-paneled bookcase and iconic old-style luggage decorations adorning the walls.

As you explore further, you’ll discover multiple smaller rooms with various seating arrangements, including individual chairs, sofas, and a long communal table. Towards the back of the lounge, there’s a cozy TV room and a secluded area for families with small children, located behind the snack table.

The Buenos Aires Centurion Lounge offers a range of amenities to enhance your airport experience:

Business Center: Several iMac computers with large monitors and a printer/copy machine are available for your work needs.

The vibrant colors and white stone floors create a bright and cheerful atmosphere, making it an inviting space to relax before your flight.

One of the standout features of this lounge is the ample seating available, which is a refreshing change from the often-crowded Centurion Lounges in the United States. Even during my visit in the late afternoon, I had no trouble finding a comfortable spot to unwind.

The snack selection, while not extensive, offers a satisfying range of options, including local treats like alfajores. The ice cream bar is a delightful surprise and a perfect way to indulge before your flight. The beverage selection is impressive, with a focus on showcasing Argentina’s renowned wine varieties.

However, there are a few drawbacks to consider. The lack of hot food options may disappoint some travelers, especially those looking for a more substantial meal. Additionally, the absence of shower facilities could inconvenience travelers on long layovers or those hoping to freshen up before their flight.

Despite these limitations, the American Express Centurion Lounge at EZE is a welcoming and comfortable space to spend time before your departure. The friendly staff, reliable Wi-Fi, and well-maintained amenities make it a top choice among the lounges at Ministro Pistarini International Airport.

The American Express Centurion Lounge Hong Kong is located in Terminal 1 near gate 60. It is approximately 8,000 square feet and is open daily from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM.

The lounge features various types of seating arrangements and furniture, although they may not be the most ergonomic for extended work sessions. Wire chairs with minimal padding are common, along with some bar seating, benches, and a limited number of more comfortable armchairs that tend to get occupied quickly.

The space includes a main lounge area with the bar as the centerpiece. Tables and chairs are spread throughout this central space. Additional seating can be found in a separate area off the main hallway.

While the design is attractive, the lounge tends to get very crowded, making it difficult to find a quiet spot to relax or work. Nap rooms are not available.

The American Express Centurion Lounge in Hong Kong provides a welcome retreat from the bustling terminal with its sleek, modern design. However, the lounge has some notable shortcomings that detract from the overall experience.

Seating is the biggest issue, as the space regularly becomes extremely crowded, making it difficult to find a place to sit and relax. The lack of cushioned chairs or nap rooms also means there’s nowhere to catch some shut-eye.

While the food offerings are appreciated, the buffet selection is relatively pedestrian compared to some other lounges. Dishes incorporating more local specialties would be a nice addition.

On the positive side, the bar is excellent, with a great selection of cocktails, wines, and spirits. The bartenders mix up delicious drinks from a menu created by a famous mixologist. It’s a focal point of the lounge.

The lounge also offers a solid set of amenities like Wi-Fi, workspaces with computers and printers, private phone rooms, and shower suites. However, power outlets are surprisingly limited and not universal.

Service from the lounge staff was friendly and attentive during my visit. Used dishes were promptly cleared and the buffet was continually refreshed.

Overall, the Amex Centurion Lounge is a big step up from the average airline lounge and one of the better options at HKG. But the crowds and lack of ample comfortable seating means it may not always provide the peaceful oasis you’re seeking before a long flight. Plan to arrive early to snag a seat and fully enjoy the bar and amenities.
