Blue Business Plus Benefits

The Blue Business Plus only has a few benefits given its no annual fee.

  • Access to Amex Offers- Amex Offers are discounts that you can add to your card to help you save money or earn extra points. For example, 10% back at FedEx or spend $150 at Hilton and get $30 back.
  • Free Employee Cards- You can add employee cards for free to help you earn more Membership Rewards points.
  • Expanded Buying Power- This benefit allows you to spend above your credit limit, which is a nice perk for those big purchases.
  • Secondary Rental Car Insurance.  This coverage is not as valuable as primary rental car insurance, but it will cover any damage to the rental car that your insurance does not cover.

Advantages of the Blue Business Plus

2x Points- Membership Rewards points are the most valuable transferrable points currency, and the ability to earn 2x points on all purchases a huge plus for this card. This card has a better earn rate on non-multiplier spending than American Express’ premium cards such as the Platinum card with a $550 annual fee that only earns 1x points on everyday spending.

Disadvantages of the Blue Business Plus

There are two reasons why we rate the Blue Business Plus 4.5 stars instead of 5 stars:

2.7% Fee on Foreign Transactions- Most no annual fee cards charge foreign transaction fees, so leave this card at home when you travel internationally.

Lack of Purchase Protections- The Blue Business Plus offers no purchase protections such as purchase protection or an extended warranty. This card previously offered these protections, but American Express eliminated most purchase protections from their no annual fee cards in 2020.
