The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card is a good choice for small business owners because it offers a simple 2% cash back on the first $50,000 in purchases each year (1% cash back thereafter).
Plus, it has no annual fee (rates & fees) and benefits like purchase protection, extended warranty, and secondary rental car insurance.
This article will cover everything you need to know to determine if you should add this card or another to your wallet. Let’s dive right in.
Earning Cash Back
The Blue Business Cash allows business owners to earn 2% cash back on up to $50,000 in eligible purchases every calendar year. After that, the card earns 1% back.
Plus, any cash back you earn is automatically credited to your card statement for easy rewards.
The Blue Business Cash is a great choice for small businesses because it has no annual fee (rates & fees).
This can help new businesses save on costs while still being able to earn cash-back rewards on their purchases.
You can also add up to 99 employees as authorized users free of charge.
Blue Business Cash Card Benefits
0% Intro APR for 12 Months on Purchases
This card offers 0% introductory APR on purchases for 12 months from the date of account opening. After that, a reg_apr,reg_apr_type APR. APRs will not exceed 29.99%.
Buy Above Your Credit Limit with Expanded Buying Power
This card offers expanded buying power allowing you to spend beyond your credit limit to help pay for larger purchases.
You must pay your monthly minimum due each month, including any amount over your credit limit. The amount under your credit limit can be carried over month to month, but it’s always best to pay in full to avoid fees and interest.
Your Expanded Buying Power amount adjusts based on a variety of factors, including your use of the card, payment history, and credit history.
Secondary Car Rental Insurance*
Secondary rental car insurance covers any damage to or theft of a rental car not covered by your primary insurance when you pay for the rental using this card.
Other credit cards offer primary rental car insurance, which pays before your insurance and saves you the hassle of filing multiple insurance claims.
You still need to maintain liability car insurance to cover damage to another person or property.
Credit card extended warranty protection adds up to an additional year of coverage for eligible purchases on manufacturer’s warranties up to 5 years.
For example, if you bought a TV with a manufacturer’s warranty of three years, this card would extend the warranty for free to the fourth year.
Purchase protection could save you a lot of money if you bought an eligible item that is damaged or stolen within 90-days.
For example, if you accidentally dropped your new phone or laptop and broke the screen, you could file a claim to get it replaced if the item was purchased within the last 90 days.
For this card, coverage is up to $1,000 per occurrence, up to $50,000 per calendar year.
Access to Amex Offers
This card has access to Amex Offers, which are deals that are linked to your card, allowing you to save money or earn extra points on shopping, dining, and travel.
For example, there could be an offer such as spending $200+ at Marriott Hotels and Resorts and receiving $50 cash back as a statement credit.
You can find all of your Amex Offers by signing into your American Express account. You will need to “Add to Card” each offer to be eligible for the special offer.
You can only redeem your rewards on the Blue Business Cash as a statement credit.
Rewards are automatically redeemed to your account within two months from the date of purchase.
For example, if you spent $2,000 on office supplies in March, a $40 credit will be posted on the May billing statement.

Is the Amex Blue Business Cash Worth It?
The Blue Business Cash is a good option for businesses that want to earn cash back and spend less than $50,000 per year.
If you would rather earn points towards free flights, the The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express (review) is a good option. You could use a combination of the two for both points and cash back.
For businesses that spend more than $50,000 (or $100,000 with the combination of the two Blue Business cards), the Capital One Spark Miles for Business (review) is a great option that earns 2 miles per dollar with no cap.
